100BaseT
<networking> Any of several Fast Ethernet 100 MBps CSMA/CD standards for twisted pair cables, including: 100BaseTx (100 Mbps over two-pair Cat5 or better cable), 100BaseT4 (100 Mbps over four-pair Cat3 or better cable), 100BaseT2 (in committee; 100 Mbps over two-pair Cat3 or better cable). All are standards (or planned standards) under IEEE 802.3. (1997-01-07)
Fast Ethernet
<networking> A version of Ethernet developed in the 1990s(?) which can carry 100 Mbps compared with standard Ethernet's 10 Mbps. It requires upgraded network cards and hubs. The relevant standards are 100BaseT, 100BaseFX and 100BaseVG. (1998-03-23)
100BaseFX
<networking> Fast Ethernet over optical fibre. (1998-03-23)

Fast Ethernet

In computer networking, Fast Ethernet physical layers carry traffic at the nominal rate of 100 Mbit/s. The prior Ethernet speed was 10 Mbit/s. Of the Fast Ethernet physical layers, 100BASE-TX is by far the most common.

Fast Ethernet was introduced in 1995 as the IEEE 802.3u standard and remained the fastest version of Ethernet for three years before the introduction of Gigabit Ethernet. The acronym GE/FE is sometimes used for devices supporting both standards.
